Sonoran Sport Center home page

Our La Paz to Cabo San Lucas leg of our winter sailing trip offers us the best fishing area in the Sea of Cortez along with some of the best visibility for diving. I am always amazed at just how blue the water is on the east  Cape.  You are responsible for arranging your transportation to La Paz and your departure from Cabo. Both cities are well connected with airline flights. We will pick you up at the La Paz Marina. All your food and drinks while on board the Windsplitter our 40 foot trimaran are covered by the cost of the trip. If you are a certified scuba diver we will have some tanks on board for scuba diving and also kayaks as well. Free diving and spear fishing skills will be emphasized as always. I will be happy to teach you to free dive and spear fish for no additional charge. If you are interested in any American Sailing Association sailing certifications this can be arranged for an extra price.

Where will we be stopping on this part of the journey? Isla Espiritu Santo has some of the bluest water anchorages in the Sea of Cortez. Check out these links for Cabo Pulmo marine park. http://www.orf.org/cabopulmo.html and http://www.savethefish.org/mexico.htm Cabo Pulmo has the northern most coral reefs found in the Sea of Cortez or Pacific Ocean. The diving here is out of this world. I have never seen anything like it in the Sea of Cortez. Los Frailes is located a few kilometers south of Cabo Pulmo and offers a great anchorage when it is blowing out of the north west.

The east cape offers some of the best fishing in the gulf. The last time I was there we watched humpback whales bubble net feed around Punta Colorado. Check this link for the hotel Punta Colorado. We will be sailing through the world famous Gordo Banks as well. Do I need to say anything about Cabo San Lucas that has not already been said. Lands end is a special place and every time I am there I marvel at the Granite cliffs. What an incredible place to start another sailing trip towards San Benedicto and Socorro Islands!

The cost of this leg of our trip is $1000 dollars per person just like all the legs of our Journey in the Baja.
