Sonoran Sport Center home page

Our Loreto to La Paz leg of our winter sailing trip offers some the best coastal anchorages in the Baja along with the greatest number of Islands that can be found on any leg of our Journey. You are responsible for arranging your transportation to Loreto and from La Paz. Loreto is well connected with airline flights to L.A. and there is an international airport located in La Paz as well. We will pick you up at the small dock in Loreto on the 18th of November. All your food and drinks while on board the Windsplitter our 40 foot trimaran are covered by the cost of the trip. If you are a certified scuba diver we will have some tanks on board for scuba diving and also kayaks as well. Free diving and spear fishing skills will be emphasized as always. I will be happy to teach you to free dive and spear fish for no additional charge. If you are interested in any American Sailing Association sailing certifications this can be arranged for an extra price.

Keep this in mind, this is your trip so if you hear about an off the beaten track area to go then we can go there. I know from some of my kayaking buddies that there are some hot springs not to far out of Loreto and very few people know of them so it is places like this that we can visit. If you here of an incredible canyon hike around Aqua Verde then look into it and let's go!

Loreto has the largest density of Islands in the gulf. Loreto also boasts one of the few marine parks that can be found in the Baja. Isla Coronado, Carmen, Danzante, Monseratte, puerto Escondido, Aqua Verde. The list goes on for ever it seems. check out this link http://www.bajaoutpost.com/ for just some of the activities in and around Loreto. What excites me the most is the possibility of encountering blue and fin whales. These whales are the two largest species on the planet. I have been working with local mamamalogist in San Carlos attempting to take pictures of Fin whales for identification. Last year I added two Fin whales to the catalog of whales in the Sea of Cortez. Bring your camera gear and at least a 200 mm lens and you might get a chance to put a whale in the catalog as well. Blue whales tend to be in the Loreto area in January but it has been my experience that whales do not always follow the supposed rules. So even though we will be a little earlier according to the calendar the area around Loreto is so rich that we have a great chance of seeing several species of whales while we are there.

I will not even talk about La Paz on this page. There is so much to say about this city that there is not enough space on this page, check out this link about La Paz http://www.vivalapaz.com/ and just go to our Link for the La Paz to Cabo San Lucas leg of the Journey for more info.

The price for this leg of our Journey is $1000 dollars per person.
